Living In The Present
Hi friends,
I know the world looks like a scary place right now. How are you and your family adjusting to this new normal? Being the optimist that I am, I know that we are going to recover from this COVID-19 crisis and be better in the long run. We can choose to look at this time of quarantine as a nerve-racking disappointment…OR we can lean in to each other. This is allowing us to press the pause button, breathe and fall in love with your friends and family again.
Put down the phones, the iPads, the computers and pick up the book that’s been sitting on your nightstand for months. Dust off the board games and exercise your strategy skills. Take your dog for a walk down a different path than usual and let them sniff all the new smells. How we choose to perceive this unusual time will define how quickly we, as a community and nation, will recover.
We are more adaptable than we realize and we WILL GET THROUGH THIS.
March Real Estate Market Is Holding For Now
With daily (sometimes, hourly) personal protection measures being put into effect, the brokerage community is learning to adapt quickly. I’ve been doing more showings via FaceTime and YouTube videos, and 3D Matterport tours are proving to be an extremely beneficial tool for buyers right now.
If you have been preparing to purchase a home, now might be a good time to take advantage of low interest rates and possibly less competition in the marketplace.
Despite the news, there have been 17 properties go under contract and 21 properties sold since March 16th. I’ve spoken with several leaders in real estate and the title companies and for now, it seems that business is continuing on.
Many companies are also getting the chance to experiment with remote working for their employees. This is a great opportunity for many businesses to “test the waters” on the concept of remote working, which has proven in many industries to actually be more productive.
On The Hunt…

How Local Businesses Adapted to COVID-19
Take Out & Delivery From The Blue Plate
Local favorite The Blue Plate in Avon, Colorado is a great example of flexibility and adaptation during uncertain times. With the onset of COVID-19 and state-wide recommendations to limit contact, Chef Adam and Elli quickly shifted from in-restaurant dining to offering curbside takeout and FREE delivery in the Avon area for those in self-isolation or being extra cautious right now.
With a diverse, fixed menu in place, they have taken steps to ensure that they can still provide to our community and we, in turn, can continue to support one local business here in the Vail Valley.
Check out their website or Facebook page for the most up-to-date menu and give yourself a break from PB&J’s or Spaghetti! Call (970) 845-2252 to place your order Monday – Saturday.

Meals & Essentials From H&H
Starting tomorrow, Wednesday March 25th, we are eager to begin offering a small selection of pre-made meals, essentials, and booze (also an essential but it deserves its own category…) to our community in an attempt to offer a small ease during this difficult time.
Our food, your home. It’s what we do. It’s what we’ve always done.
The Vail Valley Partnership has put together a comprehensive list of the businesses that are open in the Vail Valley during COVID-19. This list will be updated regularly and provides suggestions on how we, as a community, can help our local businesses stay afloat.
